Bio by James Cameron:
Carlo Griggs 1984, not the most significant of years. BMX was the latest 'craze' from America. Just like every craze before it, BMX was meant to wither and die. Bikes were meant to gather dust in garden sheds and bike riders were meant to get fat, have kids, buy an XR3i, and confine their riding to talk of what could have been.

It was 1984 when I first came across a shredder with a striking resemblance to former pop icon Glen Meddieros. Back then Carlo, was only marginally taller than a hole and already as cocky as hell. I'll give you a pound for every rider you can name who's been non-stop for twenty years. Just recently we were watching a video of the Worlds from Paris in 1988. It's easy to become nostalgic about certain riders - memories and imagination become blurred until a myth is born.

Anyway, we were watching the video and it was full of legends who, with hindsight, should generally should have remained confined to being good memories. On comes Carlo in a pair of jeans and cranks wide open, fully forehead on his bars, pedalling like stink at this quarter-pipe and at 12ft disappears out of the pictureÞsometime later (about long enough for a quick cuppa) he re-enters the screen and noses in smooth as glassÞ.swiftly followed up with several tricks I can't recall being invented until the mid-90's.
